As known traditional Greek cuisine is marked by ease but Greeks have a talent to cook tasty and original food of simple products, we must give them that. Here is one of proofs Lahanorizo / Λαχανόρυζο, translated as cabbage and rice. It is fast to cook, tasty and hearty - Greek style. <br /><br />✅ Ingredients:<br />• white cabbage – 2 lb /900 g <br />• bulb onion – 7 oz /200 g <br />• carrot – 4 oz /120 g <br />• rice – 7 oz /200 g <br />• crushed tomatoes – 9 oz /250 g <br />• sugar – 1 tbsp <br />• water – 3 cup /700 ml <br />• lemon juice – 2 tbsp <br />• olive oil – 1/3 cup /80 ml <br />• ground black pepper (to taste) – ½ tsp <br />• salt (to taste) – 1 tsp <br />• fresh parsley – 2 tbsp /10 g <br /><br />✅ You will need:<br />• saucepan <br />• carving board <br />• bowl <br /><br /> Preparation: <br />1. Cut the bulb onion, carrot and cabbage into thin strips. <br />2. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan and fry the onion over medium heat for 4 minutes. <br />3. Add the carrot and cabbage and fry over low heat for 5 minutes then cover a lid and simmer for another 5 minutes. <br />4. Add the crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, sugar and rice washed with cold water and stir well. <br />5. Pour in the water, bring to a boil, cover the lid and simmer for 20 minutes until readiness. <br />6. Sprinkle your lahanorizo with chopped up parsley and serve to the table.
